Members of Wessex HarpersHarp / flute | Christine Weaver ![]() Christine formed the Wessex Harpers ensemble, and plays both lever harp and flute with the group. She took up the harp in the year 2000 and this is now her favourite form of relaxation.more details Harp | Anne Chorley ![]() Anne started playing the piano from a young age, but it wasn't until many years later that she was persuaded by an advert to 'come and learn to play the most beautiful instrument in the world', and so began to study the clarsach. more details Pedal harp | Jenny Dove ![]() Jenny brings the sound of the large concert harp to our ensemble. When not playing the harp, Jenny can be found managing The Swan Inn, south of Reading, or judging at dog shows. more details Harp | Linda Hodgson ![]() Linda first saw a small harp being played at her daughter's school, and was lucky enough to buy it later on, and start taking lessons. more details Harp | Felicity Merchant ![]() Felicity started playing the harp after attending a Beginners' Harp weekend at the WI College at Denman, when she decided that this was for her. She has always had an interest in folk music, especially Scottish. more details Harp / voice | Barbara Thompson Harp / fiddle | Lynne Watkins ![]() It was Lynne's son who first started learning the harp, but gave it up when higher education took up his time. Lynne then took over the harp, and ever since, has taken every opportunity to play traditional music of the Celtic lands with other harpers. more details Harp / saxophone | Alan Weaver ![]() Alan is the saxophone playing member of the group, who, having spent much time helping his wife Christine with all things 'harp', decided to join in - taking up the harp in 2006 and becoming an active member of Wessex Harpers. more details |
