travelling around the world

Hi Family!
From tomorrow till the 19th of august, my girlfriend and myself are travelling around the world. For all the people who want to follow us on our journey, they can have a look on the following website:

American Hurkmans

Dear Hurkmans,
I am the grandson of a Johannes Martinus Hendricus Hurkmans born (Hilversom?) in 1889. He married a woman named Jacoba Stoltenkamp on Ellis Island on around 1923 after he allegedly jumped ship from the America-Holland line where he was a steward. I don't know if we are related, but Hurkmans is a very rare name here in the States. My grandfather's parents were Johannes Hurkmans and Antoinette Zwysen the latter who used to own some sort of hotel in Hilversom which went bankrupt, if I got that story right. If you think you know what branch of the family we are, let me know.

Hello Peter, we got a lot of Hurkmans in Holland. I don't no if we are related, the most of my family is born in another part of Holland, near by Eindhoven. But Holland is a small country, so it is always possible that we are related. Thank you for your message in the guestbook.

Yes, that is sort of an unofficial site... I am not as familiar with locations in Holland. I hear stories about Brabant and Amsterdam from my mother, who I think has looked at your nice site but was not too sure. I didn't know that there were that many Hurkmans in Holland... What I would like to try to do sometime is track down records of the Holland America Line and see whether I can track my grandfather's voyages. I know he made it as far as Venice and Japan (Yapan as he used to say), but I don't know when. Cheers. -Pete
