TWIST JEWELLERY is the creation of Myke Calder. These unique pieces of original jewellery art are created from copper that has been weathered and textured by time and incorporate silver, brass, bronze, gold or found objects - no casting or mass production techniques are used.
The creative process uses the materials' subtle colourings and characteristics to reflect the tensions and harmonies of the landscape and natural world of the Highlands of Scotland through a jewellery making that is more sculptural than simply ornamental or decorative. Brooches, pendants, necklaces and earrings draw their inspiration from forms that evoke a sense of time and history yet which are nonetheless highly contemporary in design. Circles, spirals, Celtic symbols and a range of other forms are imaginatively re-interpreted in a fusion of the traditional and modern to create visually distinctive and evocative artistic jewellery.
