Why a winter market?

Over this summer, we ( the Isle of Skye Baking Company) traded at the Portree producers market with our range of breads and home baked produce. The market however closes towards the end of summer. We loved every minute of trading, meeting our customers and other local producers. And wanted the summer to go on forever........

The idea behind The Secret Season Project  is to create a means for local producers to extend the trading season until Christmas and possibly beyond. The markets are an excellent opportunity for the general public to buy fresh local produce...and people do not stop eating when the sun stops shining.

This initiative aims to take local produce to local people, by holding a market day at different venues around the island. These are indoor venues, sponsored by like minded businesses.

I hope to develop this site, and to add links to information about as many local producers as possible.
