POETRY

The Poetry Group does not follow a structured course but might be described as opportunistic. Centenaries, publication of letters, diaries or new collections, even the appointment of a new Poet Laureate; all present the chance of studying the work of a particular poet and sometimes that of his contemporaries.
Lately, we have become increasingly interested in lives of poets and the influences on their writing.
We enjoy reading aloud and find that this, in its turn, aids the enjoyment and understanding of the work.
