Snooker
This group was formed in 2010 and led by Mike Walker. Several members of our U3A had played in days gone by and were interested in ’having another go’, no doubt inspired by John Higgins, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Co.! We were offered the opportunity to use the premises of the Cheddar Village Snooker Club, of which several of us are also members. There we have the use of two tables which allows up to eight of us to play at one time.
I have recently taken over from Mike Walker. We meet every Wednesday morning at 10.20am at the Cheddar Snooker Club premises above the parish council office. Several of us have joined Cheddar Snooker Club as this gives us 24 hour access to the premises. The club has 2 tables available and we normally play until about 1pm. U3A members who are not members of the Snooker Club have to pay a 'guest' fee of £1.50p per visit which helps to meet the operating costs of the Snooker Club. I also collect £1.00 from each person to cover payment for table time. A maximum of £2.50 for a morning's entertainment!
If you would like to try your skills, please give me a ring and I will arrange to meet you at the entrance to the club. (The council office is no longer open on a Wednesday morning). Please note that access to the snooker room is via a steep set of stairs.
