HIGHLAND LGBT LIVES

Adventures in Art

Hi…

Would you like to produce some artwork to mark LGBT History Month in the Highlands starting in February 2014…and possibly beyond leading to a public exhibition in February 2015 at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery (imag)?

You may or may not regard yourself as a talented artist. This doesn't matter. The experience is not competitive in any way and is on offer to all Highland LGBT people. All you need is a willingness to help us inform Highland society about the range and variety of people that make up our LGBT community. Participation in the project can also allow you to be as 'out' or as 'anonymous' as you like. Maybe this opportunity could allow you to make some new friends and kickstart an 'adventure in art' for you?

We would ask you to let us know your medium of choice (paint, paper, pastels, photography etc) and materials, printing and any framing will be free.

If you're 16 or over and interested in what could be a fascinating year then please, please do get in touch and we'll tell you more.

Very best wishes and a Happy New Year.

Transition Support Service (Scottish-wide)

This national service offers a holistic programme of support to transgender people who are seeking to undergo, currently undergoing or have recently undergone a process of gender reassignment/transition.
The programme includes free courses, workshops, regular social events and peer mentoring, arranged in various locations around Scotland, to support you at whatever stage of reassignment/transition you may be at.

For more information on support available or how you can become involved as a volunteer, please contact Rose Marshall (Development Worker) on 0131 523 1103 or email her via rose@lgbthealth.org.uk

Peer Support

TSS (Transition Support Service) have trained a small group of volunteer peer supporters. They are available to be matched with trans people who are isolated and lacking in confidence. The volunteers are from different parts of Scotland and are a diverse group of trans people. We hope to be able to match people up locally with someone who can offer time limited support. This will not be a befriending /counselling relationship, but will help people with support to go shopping for clothes for instance, attend appointments at Gender Identity Clinics/hairdresser/barber, or link up with local
support groups. Please contact Rose if you think you might benefit from accessing a volunteer peer supporter.
Contact rose at lgbthealth.org.uk for an initial chat.

Volunteers Wanted
