Welcome to the Staff of Life Tuesday Darts Team.

The Staff of Life.

The Staff of Life is situated in the heart of the Potteries in Stoke Town centre in Hill Street,  this lies off the main through road  where you turn left by the Nat West Bank.

The pub dates from the early nineteenth century.  It has only had minor modernisation.  It still retains the origional Hollins Mionton tiled floors in the passage and games room along with the outside toilets.

Back in the seventies the pub was renowned for its beer Draught Bass and Worthington E the landlord at this time until 1986 was Charles Hulse (Charlie).  The pub was better know as Charlie's during this time, the pub was also listed in the Campaign for Real Ale book as a pub that didn't have any Christmas decorations.

From 1986 to the mid to late nineties the landlord was Larry Cullen.  Although the beer wasn't keep as good as Charlie's, Larry's way to keep the punters happy was to give them a good time.

Irish Angie took over for about 18mths until the pub closed for a while.  The Staff was reopened then by Brenda Kelly who had the pub for about 4 years before it closed again for a short time.

Then the holding company then put a number of temporary landlords in place including Ronnie (Reg) who has now taken on the lease.

Over the last year Ronnie has slowly been building up trade, having Bass on as main draught beer and up to two other guest ales.
