I've been drawing a couple of posters for Dumfries Astronomy Society and Dumfries Museum. They're running events for BBC Stargazing Live and Yuri's Night.

I use a mix of Posca paint markers with big chisel tips for the colour and a Rotring art pen for the details when I draw posters like this. The text can be added later in the computer using a package lke InkScape, CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator.

The Posca markers are particularly good at producing big blocks of colour and they overlay underlying colour with almost no transparency.

The Stargazing Live image shows Dumfries museum in the starlight. It was originally a windmill but was converted to an observatory by the Victorian Dumfries Astronomical Society. More recently, Dumfries and Galloway Council has rennovated the building and made it the town museum.

The Yuri's Night poster has Yuri Gagarin at its centre, fitting as it celebrates the anniversary of that first manned space flight. The other people in the poster are space poet Dom Conlon and Astronomer Hayden Goodfellow.
