Skye Fruit & Fungi is based in Tarskavaig which lies on the Sleat Peninsula of the Isle of Skye. Sleat is known as 'The Garden of Skye' because of its relatively sheltered position which enables a range of plant species to thrive.
Skye Fruit & Fungi was founded in 2003 as a result of growing mushrooms for a hobby and now operates as a small business providing locally grown produce to Skye.
Our Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms are grown traditionally on Highland hardwood logs, harvested from sustainably managed woodland. The logs are slowly seasoned by the elements taking a full 18 months to mature. This style of cultivation imparts a fuller flavour and a firmer texture. We use no herbicides or pesticides on our produce.
