WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE.
Please take the time to have a look at my art work listed here. I will not bore you with lengthy artist statements, or rubbish on my struggle to paint. I paint and draw because I can. For me it is a special personal experience, and seeing a finished picture is gratification enough.
There are many artists I admire, particularly 'The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood', with their bright bold colour and meticulous brush work. The way I paint with watercolour is a result of studying the works of Frank Cadogan Cowper and his amazing portraits in that medium. I also admire the 'old masters' the 'Northern Renaissance' such as Jan van Eyck .
I enjoy painting and drawing all subjects, but prefer to specialize in portraits, both human and animal. I admire wildlife of all kinds, and try to capture british urban wildlife in realistic modern settings.
I have always been able to draw and my first pictures were nearly always horses. Fortunately I now cover other subjects.
I use different media; pencil with pen and ink , acrylic paint, watersoluble oils, watercolour and gouache.
Although my portfolio is small, I am adding to it all the time. I enter the national open art competitions and sell my work through a wonderful local gallery, 'Galleries Alive' in the Telford Town Centre.
I take commissions for any subject, and I am happy to work from photographs. I also source frames from two local charity shops, as I like the look of wood with glass, and it suits my style of work.
I am also working on a collection of fairytale style illustrations for a series of childrens stories that I have written.
Thank you for reading this far and please browse my gallery.
