Getting Involved
As a Group we are committed to sharing our information as freely as possible but to incur as few costs as possible all this work can only be done by volunteers.
We currently have no external funding so all our research and work to date has been done on a voluntary basis with no expectation of personal financial gain.
As a volunteer you could help out in these ways:
Trace and photograph war memorials – help us complete the record of all our country’s war memorials
Find and photograph headstones with military inscriptions so people from all over the world can see a grave without paying a fee.
Index your local paper for the war years so other people don’t have to trawl through the same old newspapers looking for names.
Update the project forums with your own research to share your knowledge and see if anyone can fill in gaps or help you break down brick walls.
Suggest more projects the Group could cover
The Scottish Military Research Group is open to anyone with an interest in researching Scotland’s Military history. Please don't hesitate to contact us to see if you can help us or we can help you.
