Real Fujikura FC... The story behind the team... Late last summer ('07) Kristien Prier & Simon Marshall received a letter through the post at American Golf from Football Mundial, offering free places to all new teams that sign up to the Inverness 6 a-side league on a Tuesday night. After a brief discussion about how unfit we both were and how much we missed playing football, the decision was taken to start up a new team. Early team name suggestions of Sporting Aldila and Srixon Athletic were dismissed for Real Fujikura FC and the legend was born!!!
The 07/08 winter season kicked off with a draw or 2, followed by a wakeup call, namely a 13-1 loss to the top team from Division 1. A few wins, a few losses and the odd sending off meant we finished 6th out of 9 teams and confidence going into season 2, the 08 summer league.
With 1 game to go, our season looks like this... Played 15, won 0, drawn 6, lost 9. But that doesn't tell the story... A lack of a potent goal scorer, 3 weeks of abysmal refereeing decisions by the worlds blindest ref and just general bad luck. 5th August, 8pm against Acorn Signs is our match of the day though, our last chance to break the goal scoring famine, to finally get 3 points on the board, and boost our confidence going into season 3...
