REMAP (Scotland) Caithness, Sutherland & Orkney Panel
REMAP North Hertfordshire Panel
Page Turner History
Bruce Carr of the North Herts panel started some 5 years ago and made a couple of prototypes one of which was used by a client. Robbie Bowie and Don Clarkson of the C,S,&O panel had 2 referrals around July 2005 and had made a number of conceptual prototypes having only limited success with hardbacks and no progress with paperbacks which were the special request of one of the clients. When the 2005 Yearbook appeared in February Robbie saw that North Herts had an entry with a paperback illustrated and a week later he flew down to Luton to meet Bruce and his colleagues. The result was that when Robbie returned he first made an exact replica and as this only worked at a shallow angle he redesigned the machine using the CAD and machining facilities that were available in Dornoch. Following the installation of the 2 client machines Duncan Gray of Aquantic Ltd. our electronic friend upgraded the equipment to a PCB making a stable control system, with a programmable logic microprocessor.
The results were a close collaboration between the two panels that has accelerated the development with a common design being made by both panels, the only changes being those to suit the manufacturing equipment available.
