The Preceptory was constituted on the 25th of August 2000 A.D. and the Charter was presented at the millenium Muster in Stirling. Originally musters were held at the Masonic Hall, Greenside, Newmilns.

The Preceptory moved to the Barr Castle in Galston in 2007, an historic and atmospheric building whose site origin dates back to the 15th century(probably earlier) and provided a unique setting for its meetings.

The 16th century Keep, has during its history, been utilised variously as a defensive house, prison, grain store, fever hospital, bandhall and now hosts a masonic temple and museum.

A small museum situated on the top floor of the building can be visited on contacting any member of Lodge St.Peter 331 Galston who can assist in organising the same. Open doors day usually provides an opportunity to visit the building without appointment.

The Keep has been saved from dereliction in recent times with help from Lodge St.Peter 331, Historic Scotland and The Lottery Fund. We thank Lodge St. Peter 331 for the use of the castle.
