I am eleven years old and I live on a croft.

Crofting is very small farming. Crofters have less animals in a more spead out area than farmers. I have hens, sheep, pigs and cattle on my croft.

My favourites are the hens  because they are very funny and they make me money.

This is my hens. They are a type of hen called  black rocks . I am very good to them and they lay eggs  for me every day. I sell some of the eggs to my nieghbours and use some to bake cakes and to make cholcolate mousse.

 

I used to have Indian runner ducks. They were very mischievous, they laid  their eggs all over the croft. It was annoying. I really liked my ducks but they all died. I am thinking about buying some more.

 

 

We have Highland Cattle on the Croft. Our Highlanders are called Thelma and Connie. They have two hiefer (girl) calves called Penny and Lara. I like the cows.Sometimes I help to feed them, they eat out of a bucket. they especially like carrots.

 

 This is my sheep. They are very nice Hebridean sheep, they have black wool but they are going grey. I feed them by hand but they are a bit shy.
