Other Therapistsby Christine Skinner - 12:39 on 06 June 2008This week I was asked if I would voluntarily carry out IHM's at a day giving sample treatments to volunteers in the local area as a way of saying thank you. I was delighted to be given the chance to carry out the treatment which I enjoy and which might help other people.
I arrived early, left my equipment and popped to the bank. On arriving back there were other therapists all gathered together in the area. Cheerily I said a bright and breezy 'hello' to be met with stony silence and looks as if I were a two headed alien. What is wrong with people that we ignore greetings? Ok, they didnt know me but so what.
I thought the idea of the day was to pamper the volunteers for the hard work they do at least we all could have tried to smile and put on a happy face.
I even had one therapist say to me (and she was a volunteer there to be treated), and I took it extremely rudely, that she would not have a treatment with me because she did not know me; now if everyone took that stance it would have been a waste of a day.
Why do we have to be so rude, I know times are tough. I have not had any paying customers for therapies since March but I try very hard not to take it out on others.
I enjoyed the day, I enjoy meeting new people, I am a bright and cheery person and I really hope I convey this to other people.
Why cant others do the same???It might make the day go better and you might find you like someone!!
