GRANITE 2007 REPORT

The Nessrallysport crew of driver, Don Murray and navigator, Steven Brown enjoyed a relatively untroubled day on the Granite City Rally. This was the car’s first full outing after their Snowman adventure was cut short with clutch failure. Starting only 5 places from the end of a field of 98 cars they produced a safe and steady run, coming home in 45th place overall, and 6th in Class 10.
Driver Don Murray, a Regional Director with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, said;-
“Today was all about getting a feel for the car. It is vastly more powerful that my previous rally cars and the first with 4 wheel drive, so it responds totally differently to everything you do. We had a great time just getting a feel for it, and will try and build on that for the next event!”
Navigator Stephen Brown, an Inverness based final year medical student, currently on placement in The Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway said;-
“I was so looking forward to this after the disappointment of the Snowman, so to have completed the course and in a respectable time was just fantastic. We have agreed to sit together on the Scottish Rally as well, so we now have that to look forward to”.
The car was again competing with support from Inverness businesses M and M Auto Repairs, Macritchie Highland Distribution, Ness Properties and Signed Graphics of Forres.
The Multiwage Granite City Rally is the third round of the County Saab Scottish Rally Championship and was won by Andy Horne and Jim Howie.
