Police take action in Neath

A major operation to tackle long-term anti-social behaviour in Neath town centre is well underway, but there are concerns it will just push it into the surrounding area.

The crackdown by South Wales Police, called Operation Grey Denver, began last month with officers taking to the streets in Swansea , Neath and Port Talbot to talk with people and attempt to get them the help they need, such as drug and alcohol treatment, support services and advice from homeless charities.

Where appropriate, section 35 notices – which require the recipient to leave an area for 24 hours – have been used.

Most recently, police cleared the benches in Neath of people using them ‘anti-socially’.
