I’ve added a link to the site of Mick Coup’s Core Combatives.

Mr. Coup has become a definite player in the SP and combatives field over recent years. 

I don’t know Mr. Coup personally, never communicated with him in the past, never spoke to him, but I know several people who have and they rate his teaching methods highly. 

I have no axe to grind either way, but from my own observations and having read his articles and had the opportunity to view some of his methods he definitely has something unique to say about the subject matter that compels us.  Not saying that I agree with everthing he has to say, but it is interesting to say the least and definitely requires a closer inspection.

He seems to be that rarity in a milieu filled with hyperbole and expedient agendas, in that he actually has something useful and innovative to say and to offer.  No mean feat, especially when you consider that we are dealing with a subject matter that is in actuality very old.

Reading his work is like an informative breath of fresh air (topped up with good old fashioned Yorkshire common sense), especially after the plethora of combative and self protection instructors over recent years who have followed (almost blindly) a certain dogmatic approach to combatives training.

Anyway...hopefully in the near future we can persuade Mick Coup and the Core Combatives people to head up North and we will have an opportunity to see some of his instructional methods first hand.
