Welcome to Made For You In Paisley

MY STORY

I am proud to be a Paisley Buddie and I wanted to create something unique to represent my town. I came up with the idea to put Paisley Pattern and Tartan together to represent not just Paisley but also Scotland

I made my first Paisley Back to Back Scarf in 2016 and then in 2017 I went on to make Wraps and Neck Wraps.

Paisley is well known for its famous Paisley Pattern.

The Paisley weavers produced their first Paisley Pattern Shawl in the early 1800, before that the weavers would weave checks and tartans.

The Paisley Pattern originates from Cashmere, it was brought over to the Uk and Paisley adopted the pattern. It is said that the Paisley weavers were the best of all weavers and they marketed their goods fairly.

Queen Victoria purchased several Paisley Shawls.

It took around one to two weeks to weave a shawl in one of the many weavers’ cottages that were in Paisley at that time.

Nowadays Paisley has only two weaver’s cottages left; one is the Tannahills Cottage that belonged to the Paisley Weaver/Poet/Song writer Robert Tannahill which now belongs to the Burns Club who hold their monthly meetings there.

The other weaver’s cottage is the Sma Shot Cottage which has a loom on show for visitor to see. Paisley Museum also has a working loom and a vast collection of Paisley Pattern Shawls on display
