9. Quality, value and quantity audits – Kit Campbell Associates were appointed 2 years ago to evaluate all primary and secondary open spaces based on quality and value as suggested in Planning Policy Guidance note 17. It states that “open spaces and sports and recreational facilities that are of high quality or of particular value to a local community, should be recognised and given protection by local authorities through appropriate policies in plans”. Middlesbrough Council has now carried out all audits on their main open spaces. All open spaces have now been categorised into one of 4 categories (a map of multifunction greenspaces is attached at appendix 1 :- Site 44, Longridge was given ‘High Quality’ and ‘Value to the Community’ by Paul Rabbits the highest value therefore there is no question that this should be recognised and given protection.
