Admiral will analyse first-time buyers on social media to gauge safety risk
Firstcarquote looks at words and sentence structure but not photos
Service is voluntary and will only provide a discount, not raise premiums

Drivers could be caught out on their car insurance premiums over what they post on social media sites, it has been claimed.

Insurance heavyweight Admiral is set to analyse words used on Facebook accounts of first-time car buyers to see whether their personalities suggest they will be safe drivers.

The service is called firstcarquote and will look at a variety of traits, such as how well organised someone is by looking at whether they use times and locations when arranging to meet others.

It will also analyse sentence length and structure and use of words, but will not be able to look at photos.

The service will look at sentence length and structure and the use of words to determine if someone is a safe driver. For example, a person who uses times and locations when arranging to meet others is considered well-oganised, and therefore safer

Although it will be able to look at historic posts, the main emphasis will be on activity in the past six months.
