Last Sunday (16 6/13) we sent a P1-3 squad to Beauly to play in a tournament against Beauly and Caberfeidh teams. We split in to two teams –Inverness A & B- and enjoyed some great shinty action. Right from the start the boys put on a show for the big crowd of supporters and parents who came along to cheer the teams on. Both teams played exceptionally well and won lots of games as well being involved in some very tight drawn games. Even the few lost games were very narrow defeats. Naturally, we are extremely proud of the boys who played with such energy, commitment and no little skill even when against older, more experienced players. A big thank you to our wonderful mums and dads who helped with transport and logistics as well as a massive thanks to Beauly Shinty Club- and especially Ewan-for a great day .The medals given by Beauly to our youngsters at the end was a lovely touch and very much appreciated .

Kincraig TOURNAMENT REPORT 19/5/13
A splendid day of high quality shinty was enjoyed by no less than 24 Inverness players at the Kincraig Festival.
A convoy of parents’ cars left early on Sunday morning to arrive at Kincraig for a 10 o’ clock start. We were delighted to provide teams for all three age groups –P3 and under, P5 and under and P7 and under. All teams had some very competitive matches and really impressed the large crowd with an attacking approach after our customary slow start!!!
The P2/3s won lots of games (including 2 wins against Newtonmore) and learned some important lessons about positioning and team play that will help them in future games. Many of the matches were won with high scores but the players’ game experience and enjoyment were the main aims of the day. Well done guys!!The Superstars who made the big travelling support so proud were - Norbert Otreba, Charlie MacRae, Innes Davidson, Steven Knight, Rory Stainsby, Callum Tuckwood, Tom MacKinnon, Jack MacCormick
The P4/5s had a very challenging section with some extremely capable teams against them. However a fantastic record of 2 losses (very narrow) ,2 draws and 2 wins shows how hard the boys worked. Again many players had not really had much experience of big competitive game situations so this was a great learning curve for our team and they did not let us down. Great effort!!The boys who fought so hard were - Wesley Carpenter, Leon Carpenter, Fraser McDougall, Ross MacKinnon, Callum Allan, Scott Davidson, Finlay Calder, Dean Boyce.
The P6/7s also had a very tough section but used their class and their desire to compete to good effect. They began to dominate games and with sturdy defence and clinical finishing quite rightly earned a place in the Final. Kingussie eventually ran out winners but the large support were ,of course, so proud of the team’s performance and each of the boys thoroughly deserved a runners up medal. Very proud moment for parents and coaches. The fantastic Finalists were - Jamie Anderson, William MacKinnon, Tai Wilson, Michael Chisholm, Seoras Cuthbert, Josh Nicholson, Ross Nicholson, Jack Craig.
Inverness Shinty Club looks at our entire youth squad with great admiration and pride. Our young players are easily the most competitive and talented group we have had in years. Well done to everyone (including those not lucky enough to be selected today) you are the future of Inverness Shinty Club and on today’s showing the future looks bright.

Sunday 28th April-ISC sent 3 teams to the Beauly Friendly Tournament(2x P4/5 and a P6/7 teams). It was fantastic to see so many players (25+) in Inverness colours demonstrating their skills.Training is so important but there is no substitute for real game time and the Inverness lads and lassies didn't disappoint. We won the vast majority of our games and drew a large number as well.Even the losses were very narrow and taken in the right spirit of true shinty players. Every player got the chance to show their developing talents and the coaches and wonderful travelling support of parents were delighted with their efforts. What a great afternoon of top class shinty.Well done everyone,we are so proud of you all.

COACHING NEWS COACHING NEWS
Congratulations to Connor MacIntyre who has won our Coach of the Year Trophy for 2012 as chosen by his fellow coaches who are delighted with this thoroughly deserved award.
Despite his own tender years Connor has quickly established himself as an integral part of our Coaching team.He has impressed everyone with his patience , flexibility and ability when working with the complete span of our player squads. Connor has proved himself equally at home when coaching our infant squad as he is working with our U-14s.
No mean player himself , Connor combines star performances in our 2nd team with his work with Inverness's exciting development programme. As such he has won the friendship and respect of players and coaches alike and we are all genuinely delighted with this recognition of Connor's dedication and commitment. Well done Connor.
We sent a 6 a side Team to Glenurquhart on 5th November , We Played 6 , Won 3 & Drew 3 , A great time was had by all , Thanks to Chips for organising it , Team was Callum Allan , Innes Davidson , Scott Davidson , Ross Mackinnon , Ewen Munro , Josh Nicholson ,
We sent a Team to Beauly on Sunday 23rd September , Our P4/5 team had a great day and really put on a show for the assembled parents and coaches .We played 5 games and had the excellent record of four wins and 1 draw against very good opposition , Scorers on the day were Thomas 5 , Ewan , Fraser & John 1
but the whole team were truly exceptional . They really caught the eye with great defence , creative midfield and fantastic forward play . Every single player gave it their all and they should be so proud of their efforts .The Team Pictured below were Fraser MacDougall , Ewan Munro , Amber MacKay , Leon Carpenter , Ross MacKinnon , Thomas Lewis , Innes Davidson and John MacSeveney.
Usual thanks to our wonderful parents for transport and support and to Ewan MacCall (Beauly Shinty Club) for inviting us to play .Well done guys . Inverness Shinty Club are so proud of you all.
We sent a S1 / P7 Team to Cannich on 16th September - The team was a mix of S1 and P7/6s who took part in the George Phimister Memorial Trophy. The calibre of the other teams immediately impressed us and we knew that we would be put to the severest test during our games .The team, however responded superbly to the challenges set them
We first played against a very good Strathglass side who proved too strong for us with a final score of 6-0. Next we played Beauly and won that game 1-0 with Airan Cummings scoring the goal . Our final game was against another powerful Glenurquhart side but was actually a very close affair with Glen running out narrow 2-0 winners.
The coaches and supporters were so proud of the dogged determination of our players who competed for every ball and covered every blade of grass in their desire to match their opponents .We would have liked to have scored a few more goals and thoroughly deserved to, but great goalkeeping and bad luck thwarted us in the 3 games .Still it was a great development opportunity to play against these older more experienced teams
The 8 players who did us proud on the day were Zac MacNeil , William MacKinnon , Ross Nicholson , Airan Cummings , Craig Davidson , Tai Wilson , Hannah Johnson and Jamie Anderson . A big thank you to the players for their efforts, they worked so hard in 3 very tough games .Inverness are very proud of you all.

We selected P6/7, P4/5, P1-3 teams to play at this event .The teams played very well given this was, for the most part , each boys first experience of competitive shinty. The teams had more wins and draws than losses which was quite remarkable given their inexperience,so congratulations to all of them for representing Inverness so well .The coaches are very proud of you all . Also a big thanks to all the parents and supporters who came along to back the players .Everyone was delighted with the day .Thanks also to Beauly and Ewan McColl for inviting us.Above is a photo of our P1-3 superstars resplendent in our new infant team strip. A big thank you to Skye Primary Camanachd for providing the opposition in 2 friendly games vs Inverness Primary Select on Saturday the 3rd March. We really couldn't have chosen more skillful and talented opponents. They set a standard of play that we must try to emulate. However our boys gave their all and as a first step into Primary Shinty the day was a great learning experience for the lads from the "town".Everyone from the large crowd that came down to support could not help but be impressed by the effort and commitment shown by our fledgling team.We clearly have something special developing here.A great day and well done to all the players involved, you did us proud.
