Inverness Shinty Club's Primary Team were showing off their new kit at Simpsons Garden Centre, Inverness.
The new kit is sponsored by the award winning local garden centre, and the youngsters popped in to thank the Simpsons team and let them see how smart they were.
The primary teams train every Sunday (Winter – Culloden Academy 11 – 12noon and Summer Bught Park from 10:30am until 12pm) and youngsters from across the city are encouraged to come along and give it a try. The club supply all equipment and have lots of volunteer coaches who take the training every week.
Siobhan MacBean, Marketing Administrator at Simpsons Garden Centre said: "It's great to support a local community club and raise awareness of one of our national sports at grass root level. We hope everyone enjoys wearing the new kit".
Drew MacNeil, Head Coach of Inverness Shinty team said: "The club is proud to have the support of an expanding local company as our youth is our future. This sponsorship deal helps to sow the seeds for an ambitious future where we are looking to set up an Inverness primary shinty league or street league. I’m driven to link in with the excellent work going on in schools via OJ Sports and the Camanachd Association and build on that by creating activities (shinty feists) for the new “shinty players”. There’s a lot going on which will need a robust infrastructure…but we are making headway.
