What is a Men’s Shed?

A Men’s Shed is a place where a man who has time on his hands can go to make things, use tools, relax and make friends. Many men like to get involved in practical tasks and get to know people by working alongside them but Men’s Sheds are not just for men who like DIY and woodwork. There is space to try a wide range of other activities and to pursue individual interests. It is important that men pursue their own interests and choose what they want to do. A Men’s Shed benefits not only the men who use it but it benefits wives, partners and family. Apart from the obvious benefit of getting them out from under their feet, it also gives men a reason to get out and about. There are many health benefits to be gained from attending a Shed. For example, avoiding or changing from a passive lifestyle (eg watching lots of TVs) to an active participatory lifestyle and combating loneliness by spending time with like-minded folk.

Share skills and interests, swap ideas and pass on knowledge.

It is a social facility with a practical bias. It is a registered charity with the sole aim of reducing loneliness and isolation, particularly amongst older men.

Opening Times

The Pavilion will be open each weekday Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to about noon and from 9:30 am to noon on Friday.

Talking and Writing Group from 10:00 am
Singing Group from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Tuesday
Woodwork and Projects 9:00 am to 12:00
IT / iPad Group follows from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Wednesday
Woodwork and Projects 9:00 am to 12:00
Senior Fitness 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Thursday
Woodwork and Projects 9:00 am to 12:00 noon
Friendship Group, often with Speaker, from 10:30 am.

Friday
Drop-in from 9:30 to 12:00.
Crafts from 9:30 to 12:00.

Woodwork and project work can be in progress at times when the Social area is occupied by another group of Members.
