Holy Day - Martyrdom of The Bab
09 July 2006
Below is a suggested Prayer for this Holy Day: O Lord! Thou art the Remover of every anguish and the Dispeller of every affliction. Thou art He Who banisheth every sorrow and setteth free every slave, the Redeemer of every soul. O Lord! Grant deliverance through Thy mercy, and reckon me among such servants of Thine as have gained salvation. -The Báb - --------------------------------------- A very moving commemoration was held today at 12 noon, in a Baha'i home in Inverness. Those who gathered firstly heard the Tablet of Visitation and all present turned towards The Bab's resting place while it was recited. Following that there was an excellent presentation on tape which depicted the life of The Bab - actors took the place of The Bab's Mother, His wife, His first followers and the leader of the first regiment that was given the task to Martyr Him. This presentation was very moving and brought the story of The Bab's short existence into life. After a few more prayers we all ate lunch together and enjoyed a social couple of hours. The afternoon ended with the Youth enjoying another Youth Class. --------------------------------------- To read a brief explanation of todays' Holy Day - The Martyrdom of the Bab - visit what the BBC have written on their Baha'i website pages: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/bahai/holydays/martyrdom.shtml or read an account of this Holy Day here: http://www.breacais.demon.co.uk/dayspring/25_martyrdom.htm ---------------------------------------
