Prayers & Elevenses - Unity
04 July 2006
Last Friday a Prayer meeting was held in a Baha'i home in Inverness. The theme for this meeting was 'Unity'. There were readings from the Hindu Writings, the Jewish Faith and Buddhist Scriptures in addition to Baha'i Prayers and Readings and were read in a warm, relaxed environment with the addition of musical interludes. --------------------------------------- In safety and in bliss, may creatures all be of a peaceful heart. Whatever living things there are: whether weak or strong with none excepted. Great or small, seen or unseen, dwelling far or near, born or awaiting birth - may all be blessed with peace. Let no man work another one’s undoing, or show contempt in any place. Let no one wish another harm, through provocations or resentful thought. Just as a mother protects her child, her only child, let all embracing thoughts for all that lives be yours. An all embracing love for all the universe, in all its height and depth and breadth. Buddhist Scripture – The Sutta Nipata --------------------------------------- Unity Be united, speak in harmony, Let your minds apprehend alike. Common be your prayer Common be the end of your assembly, Common be your resolutions; Common be your deliberations. Alike be your feelings, united be your hearts. Common be your intentions, perfect be your unity. Hindu Scripture - Rig Verda --------------------------------------- The theme for the next 'Prayer and Elevenses' meeting will be 'The Environment' and will be held on 4th August.
