Prayers and Elevenses Friday April 27th
05 May 2007

Seven of us had a lovely morning of prayers and readings followed by discussion and elevenses sitting in the sunshine outside. The theme for the morning was Creation and how all mankind is linked by its dependence on one Creator.

Two of the significant passages which we read were

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God". Christian text (St John's Gospel) and

"The first bestowal of God is the Word, and its recipient is the power of understanding. This Word is the foremost instructor in the school of existence and the revealer of Him Who is the Almighty. All that is seen is visible only through the light of this wisdom. All that is manifest is but a token of its knowledge. All names are but its name, and the beginning and end of all matters must needs depend upon it." Bahá’í writings (Bahá’u’lláh The Tabernacle of Unity)

Much time was also spent observing some unusual insects which looked like tiny bees but who kept disappearing down holes in the soil. Ann looked them up and apparently they are called Burrowing Bees. None of us had seen or heard of them before so we even learnt about something new in creation as we sat with our coffee!!
