Prayers and Elevenses Friday May 6th

Last Friday, friends gathered together for Prayers and Elevenses in Inverness. This one was a week late due to the Bank Holiday at the end of April. The chosen prayers for this devotional were on the theme of “The Power of God”:

The power of God to enlighten, to create the universe, to reveal teachings according to man’s need, to transform mankind and to enable man to understand His Word etc, a mere glimpse at His power.

This occasion was the first of a series of devotional programmes featuring prayers and readings on the qualities and attributes of God. These qualities were given, as names by the Bab, to the nineteen months of His new Calendar in the 19thC. The calendar used by Baha’is to-day.

The titles will, however, be taken at random through the year because the Baha’i month, being nineteen days long, does not therefore fit the “last Friday of the month” timetable we have for Prayers and Elevenses!

The theme for the next Prayers and Elevenses will be “The Will of God” and will be on the last Friday of May.
