Memorial Evening of Prayers and Thoughts for Peace
10 February 2007
On Wednesday 7th of February, the Baha'is of Inverness were delighted to welcome those who attended the Evening of Prayers and Thoughts for Peace in the beautiful surroundings of the main meeting hall in the Town House. The evening was arranged in memory of the late Catherine Thomson Boyd who died in July last year aged 93 and included prayers and writings from the world's major religions and music. Cathie, as she was known to her many friends, showed great courage in the early 1960s in becoming a member of the Baha'i Faith in Inverness, when to step outside the familiar church environment into a new religious belief was not without its opposition. She saw her beloved Faith, with its world-embracing teachings of religious unity and peace, blossom and grow in status throughout the world. On this particular evening in 2007,when religious suspicion, hatred and bloodshed pervade our daily news, she would have been thrilled to see friends from the Christian, Buddhist, Sikh and Baha'i communities of Inverness gathered together in her memory to pray for world peace.
