Prayer vigil for Baha'is imprisoned in iran
05 September 2010

Saturday August 28th  Prayer vigil for the Yaran

Thank you to everyone who supported the prayer vigil in Inverness on Saturday for our seven fellow Baha’is imprisoned in Iran, the Yaran (Trans. Friends).
Our programme started at 4.00 pm and coincided with part of the seven-hour vigil in Glasgow which was held between 3.00 and 10.00 pm. Vigils were also being held in other parts of Scotland, including Skye, Edinburgh and Aberdeen that I have so far heard about.

The programme: First of all a prayer of the Bab’s.

“Say: God sufficeth all things above all things, and nothing in the heavens or in the earth but God sufficeth. Verily, He is in Himself the Knower, the Sustainer, the Omnipotent.”

Then Farhang read the names of the seven prisoners one by one over some beautiful reflective music (Mahler) while Natalie lit one candle at a time. After that The Tablet of Protection was read, according to Baha’u’llah’s advice, nine times.

There followed a selection of seven readings from the Baha’i Holy Writings each one dedicated to one of the Yaran. We finished by quietly singing Alla’u-Abha.

I was very moved by the atmosphere of love that was generated and sent across the world to the prison where they have been sentenced to remain for twenty years.   Liz
