Prayers for the Iranian believers February 2010

On Sunday Feb. 7th and Monday Feb. 8th Baha’is from the Inverness area and their friends gathered together for special prayers in support of the seven members of the faith who have been imprisoned in Tehran for almost two years and who, on Feb. 7th were awaiting sentence. These peaceful people have committed no crime and are in danger purely for their religious belief. The Fire Tablet and the Tablet of Ahmad were read.

Following the arrest, disappearance and final execution in 1980 and 1981 of the nine members of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Iran, there has not been an elected national Baha’i body in that country and therefore the day-to-day affairs of the Faith have been co-ordinated by an ad hoc group. The seven members of the Iranian Baha’i community now awaiting sentence are not leaders, as they are often described, but members of that ad hoc group, six of whom were arrested on May 14th 2008 and the seventh, Mrs Sabet, having already been arrested on March 5th 2008.

Please remember them in your prayers. They are:-
Mrs Fariba Kamalabadi
Mr Jamaloddin Khanjani
Mr Afif Naeimi
Mr Saeid Rezaie
Mr Behrouz Tavakkoli
Mr Vahid Tizfam
   and Mrs Mahvash Sabet
