Kenny announces retirement
11 December 2008

Kenny MacCormack has announced his retirement from the Invergordon Junior Football Club. Alistair MacLaughlan as from January 2009 will replace Kenny. When Kenny's son, Kenny JNR joined the Invergordon Rangers Boys' Club in 1993 aged six, Kenny Snr. helped out by providing transport to away games. When Alan Munro left IRBC, Duncan MacDonald took over the reigns and formed a committee to run the Rangers Boys' Club. This inaugural committee consisted of 5 invited members, Duncan MacDonald - Chairman, along with John Macgregor, Rhona Thomson, Fergus Ross and Kenny MacCormack. A few years later, a meeting between Duncan and Edwin Skinner of the Invergordon South Lodge Football Club started talk of a merger. The outcome of a joint meeting between the two clubs in 1997 brought about a merger of children’s' football in Invergordon, and The Invergordon Junior Football Club was formed. The club treasurer at this time was Ross Macillop, a local policeman. When Ross left to take up a post in Caithness, Rhona Thomson took over as secretary/treasurer. Rhona held the treasurer's post until the end of 1999 when Kenny took over the finances. When Rhona stood down from the secretary post Mhari Matthew took over. The committee has changed over the years with volunteers coming and going. From the original committee of the merged clubs of 1997, when Kenny leaves next year, only Edwin and Duncan will remain. These two are not only committee members but have been coaches at various levels throughout the years. Edwin has shown an incredible level of commitment to the promotion of kids football to the entire Invergordon area. Duncan, who was the Chairman of the newly formed Invergordon Junior Football Club has shown amazing courage and resilience to come back after a horrific road accident, to return to the club. Now that Kenny has announced his departure from the Club, he would like to express his gratitude to all the committee members, coaches, kids, kid's parents, past and present, who have made the involvement in the Club a very memorable, enjoyable, and fulfilling experience. "If I have helped in any way to promote football to the community, or any individual in Easter Ross, however small, then I feel it has all been very worthwhile".
