Busy Week
28 June 2009

Last week was a busy one for club members with the Lilias Macdonald Memorial Two Bowl Triples, NCBA Championships, NCLBA Inter-Association Match, Tain Invitation Rinks as well as the normal League Commitments taking place.

Tuesday and Wednesday evenings saw qualification taking place for places in the semi-finals of the Lilias Macdonald Two Bowl Triples run on a round robin basis with four sections of four teams. This resulted in two teams from Ardross/Alness and two teams from Invergordon returning on Thursday for the semis and final.  The draw put a team from each club in both of the semi-finals.

The result of the semis was that both of the Invergordon triples, Nan, Meg and Evelyn: Moira, Judi and Grace, met in the final, congratulations to both teams on getting there and congratulations to the latter team on winning the Trophy.

This is the second year of this trophy being played for and on both occasions it has come to Invergordon, well done ladies.

Thursday also saw the start of the NCBA Championships with our Triples having a w/o when Dingwall were unable to field a team, our Pairs, Alistair and Eddie, being successful against Conon/Maryburgh at Dingwall and Hugh, in the Singles, was unfortunately defeated.

Friday saw the NCLBA setting off for Clackmannan to play the first of the season's Inter-Association matches.  Moira was part ot the team and Evelyn and Ina travelled as reserves. The result of this game was that NCLBA took 8 points from a possible 12.

Saturday saw four of our ladies, Moira, Helen, Barbara and Yvonne, setting off tor Muir of Ord to take part in the WRI bowls competition which they won and so progress to the finals, and two rinks from the club taking part in the Tain Invitation Rinks.
