our aim... is to provide developers with practical advice and
guidance based on good ecological principles that allows them
to get the job done.
What we do...
We provide a one stop shop for clients undertaking development works where ecological advice or guidance is needed. This could be at the planning stage of a development, during construction or post construction.

floating road under construction through peatland in Sutherland with silt fence and straw bale protection of the watercourse in the foreground
We can:
- Carry out surveys of protected species and habitat
- Produce Management Plans to meet your objectives
- Provide Ecological Clerk of Works services on site
- Offer a range of GIS services tailored to your needs
Good quality survey information and assessment provides developers with the tools necessary to manage contracts and minimise the impacts of site works.
The provision of an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) by HEDS on your construction project will help to prevent significant impacts by the contractor to the ecological value of the site. It will help to ensure compliance with the relevent legislation and planning conditions.
