Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation aims to:

Secure the use of the property at Barrandaimh as an environmental interpretation centre and to exploit it’s potential for broad community use.

Provide a ranger service within Knapdale and its surrounding areas.

Ensure the natural beauty, wildlife, biodiversity and cultural heritage of Mid Argyll is conserved and sustained.

Encourage wildlife and other types of tourism within the area that is sympathetic to the maintenance of its environments and species.

Inform and educate the wider public of the importance of environmental conservation both locally and in a national and international context.

Promote local sustainable development in line with the organisation’s environmental principles.

Inspire local communities and organisations to participate in and utilise the services provided.

Develop participation in the recording of local flora and fauna to improve knowledge of the local environment, the fluctuations occurring due to climate change and to assist with targeting resources for its protection.

Help conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of Knapdale

Promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the area by both local residents and visitors.

 

The Heart of Argyll is bounded by Inveraray, Ardfern and Tarbert. We will keep you updated about news and activities in regard to the Knapdale beavers, flora and fauna sightings and relevant events in the area. You will also find information here about developments in regard to the proposed wildlife/environmental centre and Ranger service at Barrandaimh.
