Glen shiver to pre season defeat
04 February 2011

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

OBAN CELTIC 3

GLENORCHY 1

The preparations for Glenorchy’s return to the Premier League got underway in earnest with a game in which the result didn’t really matter!

It was all about fitness after the festive eating and drinking.

A cold, January afternoon greeted both teams at Mossfield, Oban with Billy Wotherspoon the man in the middle for the fixture.

The Glen were a lot quicker out the blocks than Oban Celtic and had the majority of the first half possession without finding the back of the net. Chance after chance went a begging but the creation of these chances was a positive for the management team.

The second period began in similar fashion with Scott MacIntyre somehow contriving to miss 3 guilt edged chances. However, Celtic soon showed the way when they took the lead with a scrambled effort from Allan Duffy. They soon added a second courtesy of Daniel Madej which left Glen keeper Andrew Smith helpless. This terrible spell for the Glen was complete when David Hill fired home a 3rd for the hosts. But, the visitors didn’t give up and Kieran MacKay scored with 15 minutes to go. There was to be no further scoring and Glen go onwards to face Lochaber on Saturday 5th February.
