5th December...Glenmore Forest

The last days of November 2010 saw a wonderful deep and crisp snowfall over the whole of the Glenmore forest.

Our new Piste machine saw some great action cutting wonderful tracks around the loops to the south of Loch Morlich as well as all the Badaguish loops.

The Machine was used continually from 20th November 2010 until 10th January 2011.....Over 7 weeks of XC skiing was had by all...After 10th January the weather was not on our side but we are ever hopeful for a return to "snow in the woods".....and Indeed we did. March 12th 2011 saw a fresh deep fall.  Upto 75cm high in forest which lasted until 20th March.

For the latest information, gossip and snow conditions follow the piste machine on Twitter...Click on the bird logo above or here.

For the technically minded the machine is a Bombardier BR160 bulit in Canada powered by a 3000cc British built Perkins diesel running a cental hydraulic pump powering the drive wheels and all snow grooming accessories.

This particular machine features rubber tracks to allow for road and snow use making it particularly suitable for use in Glenmore where ski tracks need to be accessed via tarmac public roads.
