The Charity Big Boat Event took place last weekend, Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June 2016.

All proceeds from the Event are split between The Highland Hospice and Clic Sargent.

On Saturday conditions were perfect for basking in the sun, but for the sailors the winds proved to be variable from very light to reasonable. When the start gun went for Race 3, boat movement was virtually imperceptible, but the wind improved, thankfully.

Sunday was overcast with rain in the afternoon and the winds were up to about Force 4 and made for more challenging conditions and quite dramatic sailing with all boats heeling over nicely.

Saturday evening was spent with mine host Donald in The Shieling Restaurant, Gairloch and included musical entertainment and a sing-along with Trish MacDonald and local musicians. Special thanks to Andy for his great rendition of “Hamlet, Hamlet”.

Sunday afternoon, after the race round Longa, we went to The Badachro Inn with Alistair for the Results and Presentation by Lara McLellan.

Final Results:- 

3rd place               Gary & James in Zaria

2nd place              Alistair, Alison & Peter in Anderson Affair

1st place               Andy & Phil in Volja.

The total monies raised for the 2 Charities was £340.00.

Many thanks to Ewan McLellan for being Race Officer for the 2 days, using Mo Run as the Committee Boat.

Thanks also to the members who put out the marker buoys and to everyone who took part and donated fantastic Raffle Prizes. It was great fun.
