Re:  HILLSIDE BOWLING CLUB: APPLICATION TO RENEW ALCOHOL LICENSE

6th Ju
ne 2009

Dear Resident

You may not be aware that Hillside Bowling Club has applied to Edinburgh Council to renew its license to sell alcohol until 1am every night of the week. A notice to this effect is posted on the lamp post outside the club entrance on Brunton Place (London Road).

We think that the existing license is detrimental to the neighbourhood as it makes us vulnerable to housebreaking and noise disturbance. We intend to ask the Licensing Board to attach new conditions when they renew the license.  We have a very short space of time in which to officially object otherwise the license will be automatically renewed without consideration of new conditions.

If you also oppose this automatic renewal, please print off and sign the letter.... click here for a .pdf printable version of the letter.... (or write your own one). You MUST include your name, address and signature for the objection to be valid. Objections need to be received by the Licensing Board by 22nd June.

We would like to submit a bundle of objections to the Licensing Board. If you would like your letter to be included in the bundle, please complete the letter and drop it off to the maindoor flat at 9 Wellington Street by Friday 19th June.  We will deliver the bundle of letters to the Licensing Board on 22nd June.

Knowing how many local residents have objected will be helpful to anyone who attends the meeting of the licensing board where this application will be discussed.  Anyone can attend this meeting but only those who have submitted written objections can speak.  We do not yet know the date of this meeting, but it will be posted on the council website at a later date.

If you would like to be kept informed about the number of letters submitted and the date of the meeting, please indicate this and include  your email or phone number when you return the attached letter.

If you would rather act individually, then you must send your signed letter to
Clerk of the Licensing Board
249 High Street
Edinburgh EH1 1YJ

Your letter must be hand delivered, or sent by recorded or registered delivery to arrive by Monday 22nd June.
