A Little About Me...
My name is Woz, and as a young lad I coarse fished when and wherever I could. In my late teens I found Fly Fishing and was hooked... I fly fished in to my mid to late 20's and briefly began Fly Tying too. At this time in my life I fished predominately at Walkerwood Trout Fishery in Stalybridge, Cheshire. Due to family and financial commitments I had to give it all up and sell on all the tackle I had accumulated over the years... After a long lay off my family and I moved close to the area where I grew up as a young teenager and where as a young man I Fly Fished. I now live within 5 to 10 minute walk from my local fishery just a short walk up the farm track or through Stalybridge Country Park. Each day I would walk my dog up to and around Walkerwood Reservoir and everyday that passed I could feel the passion that I once had start to bubble up inside me once again, so here I am totally addicted, obsessed, anything and everything that is Fly Fishing or Fly Tying, I can't get enough… I now have a medical condition called "Fly Fishing & Fly Tying OCD" (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)...

My first trip out after re-taking up Fly Fishing was on the 7th July 2009 after giving up over 10 years ago, was to Walkerwood Trout Fishery in Stalybridge. My personal best to date was taken from Walkerwood on a cold winters day with hailstone, wind, rain and the odd snow flurry. A Rainbow trout of 10lbs 14ozs taken on a size 16 black buzzer with a 4lb tippet from the south path. A cracking fish fully finned hard fighting Rainbow Trout which took just over half hour to bring to the net. Walkerwood is my local fishery as I have said within a 5 or 10min walk from my door so will feature predominately within my blog as I attempt to keep some kind of diary/record of my Fly Fishing exploits and encounters...
I hope you enjoy
Cheers... Woz
