Major redevelopment work was undertaken in 2008-9 which included building a new two-storey exhibition hall in the rear courtyard.   This largely glass fronted building now overlooks the 16th century well at the centre of the newly opened garden.
As well as increasing the space for displays, work was also undertaken to completely re-design the displays throughout the museum, add disabled access, including a lift, and areas for research, as well as undertake essential work to better protect and display the artefacts.
The Museum relies on the goodwill and generosity of visitors and supporters to continue to assure our future and to continue to share our past.
