Introduction to Hell

Where to start?  This has been going on for a month now so I will start at the beginning, someone needs to dicument this, this (hopefully) will not last forever and I'm praying to God that this disease will go away.

I'm going to try and type eveyday as events unfold in the city, so much has changed it's unbelieveable.  I want to try and remember as much as possible before I forget.

I remember my dad had to go into hospital because he had problems down below and ended up on the Durrington ward, this was a worrying time for me and mum and he was admitted.

The first reports of Corona came in the newspapers, the WHO (World Health Organisation, not the band!) issued a statement from China that a man had eaten Bat soup!  Who in their right mind would eat bloody bat soup?!  It had mutated and other people were catching the virus which is now rapidly spreading like fury.  The bat is having his/her last revenge on the world.

I saw my first mask wearer in Bournemouth by House of Frazer (which sadly is closing) the mask was blue, but still frightening all the time.

Everyone is worried at SP2 community cafe so they have closed, watched the online St Paul's service on my phone.

Then one Monday while I was at the Salisbury camera club there was an annoucement that people doing the drinks during the break would be wearing gloves, events sped up after that I can tell you.  The committe decided the following Monday that the rest of the planned evenings would be cancelled.  I was due to hand in 3 prints as we had a mix and match competition, Richard colleceted them at the door and said I wouldn't probably see them until September.  Richard By the way is one of the comittee members.

Shopping is a nightmare now because of all the stupid panic buying, people seem to have stockpiled toilet rolls, paracetomols and Calpole.  I went to Tesco up Southampton Road and couldn't get a bottle of milk anywhere in the store.  This angers me all these people stock piling and leaving nothing for anyone else!

The prime minister has asked people not to stock pile, which has fallen on deaf ears.  Some people get there at 6am to stockpile!  This is a wakeup call that we need to bring back some form of rationing like they had during the war.  I'm now having to get up at 8pm to do my shopping, and my parents because I can't go anywhere near them.

So, what do I do next?

That is the question, what do I do next?  This is all new to me, I expect gran could have advised me as she lived through the Spanish flue.

Then came the dreaded BBC Cobra meeting hosted by Boris Johnson, starting at BBC1 at 5pm he told people that we had to wash out hands and shouldn't have social gatherings, but stupidity has taken over.

It was glorius sunny weather and people flocked to Bournemouth beach in Dorset and Snowdonia in Wales! I would have loved to have gone to Bournemouth, but because we have been told to obay social isolation rules I couldn't.  That day was also heartbreaking to me, because being Mothers day, I couldn't see mum because she and dad are in the 'at risk' catagory.  I have a nightmare they will become infected, mum has diabetes and dad has heart problems.  So mum needs to look after dad.

I have two friends called James and Rachel who went to Florida with thire mother.  They are now stuck out there because Donals trump has stopped all flights and they can't get back.

The Cheletenham horserace still went ahead and many of them are now showing symptoms of the virus, even Prince Charles has been confirmed positve.  He says the symptoms are mild for now, but they will get worse, much worse.  The Queen has gone to Winsor for safety, she should do an annoucement.  Also Coronation Street and Emmerdale has suspended filiming, can't stand soaps.

I watched the news reports coming in from Italy and Spain and it was horrific, they have gone into lockdown and all flights have been cancelled.  They are running out of resperators (that help people breath) their medical services are buckling under the strain, people are being left in the corridoors because there is no room left and the Triage system is frightening; who lives or die's?

Popular tourist places have been left deserterd which is spooky but sad.  They are litterally begging people to stay in door.

I also had the difficult decision of emailing Jackie (who we stay with in Cornwall) to pospone (not cancel) our family holiday, and I am not the only one.  Lots of planned weddings, Bar Mitva's, people's holidays have been cancelled, the camp sites in Cornwall have been slammed for staying open.  The Cornish Tourist board have asked people not to come to Cornwall, but it's being ignored!

The Downton Cuckoo fair Downton Cookoo fair has been sadly cancelled and many other events.

There was another meeting by the government.

Now all 'non essetial' shops much close, including clothes shops, electronic shops etc.  Even the schools have shut.  The only places that stay open are Pharmacies, supermarkets and food shops.  People are not allowed out unless they have a good reason like shopping and excercise.  I've seen police cars and security people roaming the streets of Salisbury, there are rumours about the army being brought in.  Their also asking doctors to come out of retirement, and volunteers to assist the NHS.

Only thing they haven't banned is funerals.  there's roumours of mass graves being dug in Italy and Spain which is bad, just needs a cortege with someone at the front ringing a bell 'bring out your dead'....

Also MacDonalds has closed completely, there was a last minute rush for people wanting a hamburger fix.  I don't care for junk food, why can't they panic buy that?

There lines of people waiting outside the 3 swans pharmacy and Marks and Spencer are only letting in a few people at a time.  I read in the papers everyday about people dying, its the media that's making the panic buying worse!

I try to avoid people now, my hair needs cutting, but all the hairdressers are closed.  Anyone that does have it has to quarantine for 14 days.  Frightenly, people don't show any sysptome but by that time theyve infected other peiople.

Everytime i do the shopping, I wipe it down with an antirbacterial spray, including my phone.  I try not to touch the door handels or light switches.

The slightest sore throat, and i'm already worried.  I've never known it as bad as this before, I could do with talking to grandparents as they lived through the war.  So many people are wearing masks now, and apparently they don't work.

A lot of delivery vans I've seen round Salisbury when I took some toilet rolls up the hospital, I saw a waitrose go into the Rowbarrow estate.  I never go on buses now if I can, because its not worth the risk.  Delivery slots are jammed up, so it can take weeks for a shop to be delivered.  Supermarkets have put a limit on what you can buy which is a start.

They say life is never going to be the same again, I don't think anything is going to be the same ever again.

So here you have it, my first entry.  I'll try and write everyday about events as they unfold and add pictures where I can.  Hopefully this won't last forever, someone has to document this events.
