The Club was started in 1970 by Ann Salvesen, Kate Hardie and Eve Clouston.  Most events were initially held at Braelangwell, Poyntzfield, courtesy of the Salvesen family.  We ran cross country, show jumping and even a little dressage, we also had the use of a fabulous indoor school so we were able to carry on our events throughout the winter months.

Our next series of committee members included John Mann and Campbell Harper.  Campbell’s son Brian is now our membership secretary and technical expert.  Brian’s mum, Olive Harper, was one of the founding owners of the original Seaforth Saddlers.  This club is steeped in local equine history!

We have always been affiliated to BRC (British Riding Clubs) and as such we have offered many of our riders the opportunity to compete at the Area 22 events, from dressage to show jumping to eventing, with much success.  Previously, the Club did hold Area 22 events here, within the southern Highlands area, both at Bruiach, Kiltarlity and also at Conan Mains, courtesy of the Mackenzie family.  In recent years, this has become increasingly difficult as the number of cross country courses has dwindled until there is no longer one for us to use.  Maybe this will change, although this is a massive event for any single club to arrange, hence most Area events are now over in the east side of the country.

For ourselves, our most popular venue is, without a doubt, the glorious Black Isle Show Ground at Muir of Ord.  There we can offer fabulous ground conditions for showing, dressage and jumping and all with the best backdrop in the area, the magnificent Ben Wyvis.

If you would like to join our lovely club, please head over to the membership tab where you will be redirected to BRC for details.
