Welcome to Caldon Cottage, Cromarty

Elegant, secluded Scottish cottage, ideal for exploring the Highlands, observing the wild life and Moray Firth Dolphins.

Cromarty is one of the oldest, prettiest and sunniest towns in the highlands of the north, with the ‘Black Isle’ noted for its benign, mild climate. Many vernacular and interesting buildings are in the township.

Cromarty has plenty to enchant both travellers and holidaymakers: sandy beaches, Georgian architecture, bottlenose dolphins, and bird colonies of international importance. It first became a Royal Burgh in the 13th century. In the 1700s salt-fish processing and sea-trade helped to swell the town's economy, and many of its famous merchants' houses date from this era.

CALDON COTTAGE Cromarty is really convenient for village amenities -- the village store, "Cromarty Stores", the "Cheese Shop" [in the old jail!], and also "Cromarty Bakery" are all about a two minute walk, "Sutor Creek Cafe" take-away and deli three minutes, "Royal Hotel" bar and restaurant four minutes, or walk the other way for a few minutes, past the "Cromarty Cafe" to the "Fishertown Inn" in the characterful Fishertown area.
Walk past Stevenson's lighthouse five minutes to the west of Caldon Cottage and you will see our community 35-seat "Cromarty Cinema" at the water's edge, next to "Slaughterhouse Coffee" on the ferry slipway, and then the harbour with "Ecoventures" wildlife trip boats and the Cromarty to Nigg ferry is laid out below you!

Caldon Cottage, Cromarty is situated with a southerly aspect conveniently in the village not far from the famous small harbour. Equipped to sleep up to six in three bedrooms, one kingsize, one double [conveniently downstairs, though there is a stairlift] and a twin bedroom with beds which zip together to make a super-king if desired. A cot is also available. New duvets are used on all beds and all mattresses are new 2021.

Modern, state-of-the-art electric heaters and a wood burning stove "snuggify" the cottage, which was built with superb insulation qualities and comfort in mind in 2004. AND -- we have a log-fired hot tub!!

The kitchen is fully modern and equipped, with double electric oven and a touch hob. There is a large sink, washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room, which leads via back door out to a canoe/bike storage area and drying green -- next to the pear tree, help yourself to delicious pears!
