EXPERIENCE :

I have provided yoga therapy and classes based in yoga’s eight limbs in a variety of contexts and as appropriate combined with other somatic, dance and creative movement modalities in a wide variety of education and community settings here and abroad for over forty years. I work with able-bodied people, those with physical and cognitive disabilities and ‘at risk’ populations. 

Having just returned to live and work in the Findhorn Community, I’m now working with the Care Farm, the Findhorn College and Bodysurf Scotland. I previously worked for the Findhorn Foundation from 1988-1995. I’ve led many spiritual and personal development workshops that included meditation, guided imagery, movement and the arts here, across Scotland, and in the USA.

As a faculty member at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California since 2003, I taught hatha yoga, mainstream dance classes, adaptive dance and a social emotional learning course for the ACE Program.

FEES for PRIVATE SESSIONS:  The first session is a thorough assessment that usually takes 75-90 minutes and includes recommendations for home practice. 

The sliding scale is £40-50.

Follow up sessions 60-75 minutes. Sliding scale is £35-45.

Discounts available for 5 sessions & by mutual agreement.
 

SPECIFIC  EMPHASIS : 

Yoga Therapy is a holistic and individualized application of the principles of the eight limbs of yoga. It increases ease and reduces stress by integrating one's experience of body, mind, emotions and purpose and empowers you by providing recommended home practices. 

I offer yoga therapy and small group classes for people with conditions that limit their sense of wellbeing, both temporary and ongoing. This also includes  conditions and illnesses such as osteopoerosis, cancer, depression, ALS, injuries, physical disabilities, and people who have additional support needs.

A typical private/individual session may include some or all of the following: 

active or restorative hatha yoga poses (asanas)
breathing practices (pranayama)
body awareness exercises
guided imagery and/or meditation exercises
recommendations for home practice
discussion of progress, issues that may arise out of the practice and modifications of practices as needed

During the first session, we'll get to know each other. It includes a thorough, interactive assessment of your personal goals and needs, challenges and strengths . Sessions which follow this initial assessment are carefully designed to support progress toward your identified personal goals in an effective, incremental way that can lead to lasting  change.  This is a mutual process in which I explore with you and discover what approaches serve you best. You may only need a few sessions.
