SPECIFIC EMPHASIS:
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment that requires the Osteopath to have an in depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and biomechanics. The Osteopath uses this knowledge and a refined sense of touch (palpation) to form a diagnostic picture of their patient and then employs gentle manual techniques to ease areas of tension and restriction thus aiding the restoration of normal healthy function – Homeostasis.
“Homeostasis is the process by which every living thing makes continual adjustments to keep itself in a stable condition and function to the best of its ability” (P. Sneddon et al).
The gentle and integrative approach makes it a safe treatment even during pregnancy and for the very young or old.
Osteopathy can be used in the treatment ofNeck Pain, Headaches, Neuralgia, Trapped Nerves, Back Pain, Arthritic Pain, Joint Pain, Sciatica, Muscle Tension, Sports Related Complaints and much more.
Babies and Children Can benefit greatly from Osteopathic treatment for a wide range of common childhood problems
