Welcome to the home of the Burnley & District Quiz League, the oldest quiz league in Burnley, originally founded as The Rosegrove League a long, long time ago.
Questions and answers are our raison d’être, matched in importance by enjoyment and mental exercise.

A team is made up of four players (men and women) plus a person to serve as question master for home matches. It costs £20 per season to enter a team.
We hold a variety of competitions, during the season some more light-hearted than others.

The League plays weekly matches on a home and away basis on Wednesday nights starting at 8:15 pm, from October through to May, with five rounds of individual questions, and five rounds of team questions. We enjoy the opportunity to meet friends, enjoy the craic and try our best to answer questions too! We relish the opportunity to show what we know and we like to come away from a quiz night feeling we have learned a thing or two as well. The team with a bye sets the quiz for that week.

The Knockout competition is our equivalent to the FA Cup.

The written room quizzes are:

The Pairs; teams of two compete.

The Trios; teams of three compete, with a twist - the teams are randomly drawn on the night. This can often be a great way to get to know other players' strengths & weaknesses in a quiz situation.

The Handicap competition, where teams who finish lower down the league table start with a distinct advantage over the sides that finished nearer the top - a great leveller that has seen blanket finishes and dead heats to bring the season to a close.

In December, we have a Social Christmas Quiz with prizes for all competitors.

At the end of the season we run a Charity Quiz, which is open to all-comers. The League has generously supported local charities over the years and last season, we raised more than £450 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We also sell copies of our Christmas Dingbat sheet, produced by one of our members. Over the past nine years, sales of the Christmas Dingbats have raised more than £12,000 for Pendleside our local hospice.
