Excellent Day School. Very stimulating and thought-provoking. Pam Vassie gave a clear analysis of how easily someone can descend from tax-payer to benefit claimant, while Dr Kayleigh Garthwaite presented her research findings on two areas of Stockton which contrasted the most-deprived and least-deprived wards, despite the minimal geographical distance. Life expectancy differed bty 17+ years (male) and 11+ years (female).
Lunch provided by Northern Soul Kitchen and Millie updated us on its progress and answered questions. Then Kayleigh talked about her book "Hunger Pains: Life in Foodbank Britain" which has recently won the prestigious Peter Townsend Award. (I've just ordered it!)
Good to see a few new faces. Great day. Thanks to everyone. (You know who you are).
